Richer metadata. Together.

The COMET community is setting the standards for collaborative metadata enrichment practices and creating the shared infrastructure needed for trustworthy quality metadata to flow into the persistent identifier (PID) ecosystem we all rely on.

Collective action leads to structural change

COMET brings together stakeholders across domains committed to the collective stewardship of quality, trustworthy, and open scholarly metadata.

Together we’re implementing a new model for metadata enrichment that recognises all the stakeholders in research creation, curation, and consumption. Research is a collective endeavour. Its description should be too.

Impact

COMET has produced enriched metadata for over 6.2 million unique DOIs across three high-value metadata fields through our targeted enrichment projects.

COMET treats gaps in high-value PID metadata fields as discrete, community-prioritised problems—each one tractable and measurable—demonstrating that collective action produces better outcomes than individual effort alone.
